An expense tracker that doesn't read your SMS

SpendCast is an expense tracker for Android that never asks to read your messages or connect to your bank. You add expenses yourself in a few taps, and everything stays on your phone.

Why some trackers want your SMS

Many expense apps in India log spending automatically by reading bank and UPI messages. It saves typing, but that permission covers your whole inbox, including one-time passwords and personal conversations. Google Play restricts SMS access to a small set of approved uses for exactly this reason.

Quick manual entry instead

  • A quick amount pad: enter the amount, tap a category, done.
  • Quick-add templates for things you buy often, such as coffee or an auto ride.
  • Recurring expenses like rent, subscriptions and EMIs add themselves each month.
  • Approximate amounts when you don't have the bill, flagged so you can fix them later.

Everything else still works

Without reading a single message, SpendCast gives you monthly budgets per category, an overall budget cap, six-month trends, your busiest spending days, savings goals, separate wallets, and a CSV export for Excel or Google Sheets.
